Guiding, witnessing and listening at the edges of change

My name is Monika Keribont.

Keribont is my Priestess name — a name I took as part of an initiation journey on my priestess training. This has brought together many different threads of my life: sound, ritual, women's work, healing, teaching, nature, ceremony and the deep changes that shape us as human beings.

I was born and grew up in Slovenia, surrounded by beautiful countryside, forests, mountains and a culture where food, nature and community were woven into everyday life. I grew up during socialism, with a happy childhood, but even then I had a sense that there was more to life than what I was being taught.

I was fascinated by alternative approaches to healing and wellbeing, meditation, natural ways of caring for ourselves, Tai Chi and all sorts of ideas and traditions that seemed to sit outside the conventional world.

Then life happened.

My interests disappeared for a while during my university years and the first years after moving to the UK. Looking back, I can see that those years were part of my own underworld journey, a time when I became increasingly disconnected from myself and eventually reached a point where something had to change.

Finding my way out wasn't a single dramatic moment. It was a gradual process of learning, unlearning and experimenting with different ways of being. Meditation became part of my everyday life. I explored different healing modalities, worked with my thoughts and patterns, learned from different teachers and began to pay attention again to the quieter voice underneath everything else.

It was through that process that I began finding my way back to myself.

And, eventually, back to the work.

In 2009, I walked into a holistic centre and something began to shift.

My interest in massage, which had been sitting quietly in the background for years, came alive again. I took an introductory course and thought I had found the direction I would follow.

Then I came across hypnotherapy.

And a singing bowl relaxation CD.

The singing bowl won. 😉

That was the beginning of a relationship with sound that has now lasted more than 15 years.

I trained, studied and explored sound from many different angles, from working with singing bowls, gongs and the voice, learning from different teachers, attending courses and workshops, reading widely and looking at the research around sound and its effects.

But the most important learning has always happened through doing the work.

For more than 15 years I have been facilitating gong meditations, sound experiences, individual sessions, ceremonies and groups. I've worked with thousands of people and have learnt that facilitating sound is about far more than knowing how to play an instrument.

It is about listening.

Listening to the sound.

Listening to the room.

Listening to the people in front of you.

Knowing when to offer something and when to leave space.

Knowing when to guide and when to get out of the way.

That understanding has become central to the way I teach and facilitate today.

Sound was never the whole story.

Alongside my work with sound, I trained in hypnotherapy, counselling skills, explored women's mysteries and cyclical living, held Women's Circles and eventually trained as a Priestess of Cerridwen.

Each of these experiences added another layer.

I became increasingly interested in the places where we change, the times when something is ending, something is beginning or the old way of being simply doesn't fit anymore.

Some of those thresholds are obvious: menopause, grief, major life changes, becoming a mother, leaving something behind.

Others are quieter and not so obvious.

Sometimes we simply know that something in us is asking to change.

These are the spaces that interest me now.

Not because I have all the answers, because I don't I am still learning, but because I know something about sitting beside people while they find their own.

I am a Priestess, sound facilitator, guide and teacher, but those words only describe parts of what I do.

I bring more than 15 years of experience in facilitating sound, circles and ritual, alongside training and experience in hypnotherapy, counselling skills, women's work, ritual and ceremony.

More importantly, I bring the experience of having walked through my own difficult places.

I know what it is to not know what comes next.

I know what it is to have parts of yourself fall away.

And I know that becoming someone new isn't always about adding more.

Sometimes it is about remembering what was already there.

My work now brings these threads together through sound, ceremony, teaching, mentoring, seasonal work and spaces for deep listening and change.

Some of what I offer is structured and taught.

Some is experiential.

Some is ceremonial.

And some simply creates enough space for you to hear yourself again.
