Floating Gong Bath

Suspension · Sound · Surrender

A deeply immersive sound experience, held in the gentle embrace of aerial silks

A gong bath is not a bath in the usual sense – there’s no water involved. Instead, it’s an immersive sound experience where the deep, resonant tones of gongs wash over you, creating waves of vibration that reach both body and mind.

During a session, you simply lie down, close your eyes and allow the sound to carry you. The vibrations move through the body, helping to release tension, quieten the busy mind and invite a state of deep rest. Many people describe it as a journey inward, where time seems to dissolve and the nervous system finally lets go.

Suspended in your own soft aerial yoga silk, you are invited to settle and let yourself be held while sounds surround you.

The hammock creates a sense of being cocooned and supported, while the sound provides a space for a deep rest, listening and inward attention.

You don’t need to know how to meditate and there is nothing you need to achieve. Simply arrive, get comfortable and allow yourself to be held.

Why Gong Baths?

In our modern world, stress and overstimulation are constant companions. Gong baths provide a rare chance to reset.

Here’s why they’re so powerful:

  • Deep relaxation – the sounds and vibrations help the body drop into parasympathetic “rest and digest” mode.

  • Emotional release – sound bypasses the thinking mind, allowing unprocessed feelings to soften and move.

  • Meditative state – even if you struggle with traditional meditation, the sound of the gongs and singing bowls can gently guide you into stillness.

  • Restored energy – people often leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more balanced.

    Who Is It For?

Gong baths are suitable for anyone seeking a pause, whether you’re carrying stress, looking for emotional release, or simply curious about sound as a healing tool. You don’t need any experience in yoga or meditation – just an openness to rest and receive.

Where Floating Gong Bath began

I began offering Floating Gong Bath in aerial yoga silks around 8 years ago. What began as an experiment in combining the enveloping quality of aerial silks with the resonance of the gongs, become a distinctive way of experiencing sound meditation.

The aerial yoga silk supports the body while the sounds of the gongs and other instruments surround you, creating an immersive experience of deep rest.

There is something quite particular about being held this way. The body is supported, the usual points of contact with the ground disappear and there is an opportunity to let go of the tensions in the body much deeper than it would be while lying on the mat on the floor.
